Our Medical Services

In addition to treating your acute and chronic conditions, our physicians can provide services to help prevent illnesses as well. Some of these services include:

• Routine checkups and laboratory tests for patients 1 year of age and older
• Vaccinations for adolescents and adults, including seasonal flu vaccinations.  Please see age-specific immunization schedules on the Your Health page.
• Women’s well visits, including pelvic exams, breast exams and pap smears
• Cancer screening, including prostate exam and tests, pap smears, and referrals for colonoscopies and mammograms
• Cardiac screening, including blood tests, echo-cardiograms (EKG/ECG).
• Medicare Annual Wellness visits and “Welcome to Medicare” visits for Medicare Part B enrollees

Many preventive services are often covered by insurance plans, so refer to your insurance handbook or contact your insurance carrier to check your benefits.

As family physicians, our providers want to maintain a life-long relationship with you.  Helping you manage your long-term chronic conditions is an important role for our physicians and staff.  Services for some of the most common conditions we treat include:

Diabetes

• on-site screening for diabetes
• medication management, including insulin therapy and oral medications
• education and dietary resources
• regular disease management and risk factor reduction

High Blood Pressure

• screening for high blood pressure
• medication initiation and management
• routine follow-up, including risk factor modification

High Cholesterol

• on-site screening for high cholesterol
• regular medication management
• dietary education

Pulmonary Conditions

• on-site pulmonary function testing (PFT) to screen for acute lung conditions and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and asthma
• on-site digital x-ray to assist in the diagnosis of pulmonary conditions
• management of medication for chronic pulmonary diseases

Neurological Conditions

• screening for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
• stroke prevention and screening

Same-day appointments are almost always available to treat unexpected illnesses and injuries. Some of our services include:

• Treatment of ear, nose, and throat problems, such as sinus infection, cold, allergies and flu
• Treatment of digestive and urinary tract illnesses
• Casting of simple bone breaks and fractures
• Wound care and suturing of lacerations

Although appointments are required, patients with urgent care needs will be worked into our schedule as soon as possible.

Our on-site lab and x-ray capabilities help our physicians provide more responsive care. Having your lab test and x-ray results immediately available assists our physicians in diagnosing your condition, changing your medications and determining if further tests or a referral to a specialist are needed — all during your scheduled appointment. On-site x-ray also allows our physicians to diagnose and cast simple bone breaks and fractures here in our clinic.

We provide care for patients suffering from arthritis and joint pain, including joint injections and medications management, and our on-site digital x-ray capabilities assist our physicians in diagnosing and casting simple bone breaks and fractures.

We provide sports and school physicals for athletes and students of all ages. Please let our staff know that you would like to schedule a sport or school physical when scheduling your appointment and bring a copy of the patient’s immunization record as well as any necessary forms to his/her appointment.  Age-specific immunization schedules can be viewed and printed from the Forms & Documents page.

Some of the most common procedures performed by our physicians include:

• Treatment of boils (skin abscesses)
• Minor skin lesion/cyst removal
• Wart and mole removal
• Ingrown tone nail removal
• Skin tag removal

Our physicians admit and treat hospital patients at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. If you require hospitalization, you can take comfort in knowing that one of our physicians is on 24-hour hospital call and will visit you daily during your hospital admission.

Occupational medicine services we offer include:

• Post-accident exam and drug screens
• Drug screening services including hair, urine, and breath alcohol test.

Please be aware that most personal insurance plans will not cover work-related injuries and conditions.

If the patient will not be responsible for payment of employment-related services, payment arrangements must be made with the responsible party prior to the scheduling of an employment-related appointment.

Services we offer to screen for cardiac diseases include:

• Blood tests
• Echo-cardiogram (EKG/ECG)
